1. American Society of Media Photographers
Formed in 1944, the American Society of Media Photographers has 38 chapters across the United States. It is a nonprofit organization that provides education to photographers for better practices as well as promotes rights and wages for photographers. In addition, this association also helps photographers connect with clients. It is a great platform for photographers who want to create images and publish them. This association is a great tool for networking, advocating photographers interests, and also helps people find professional photographers.
2. Daguerreian Society
Formed in 1988, this organization brings together photographers with their love of early photography. Members include museum curators, photo collectors and dealers, photo historians, photographers, artists, teachers and students. The Daguerreian Society is dedicated to the history and science of photography.
3. National Press Photographers Association
Founded in 1946, the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) is composed of still photographers, TV videographers, editors and students of journalism. The NPPA believes that photojournalists present stories through images and video. The NPPA organizes seminars and workshops as well as providing a job bank for those seeking a job.
4. Photographic Society of America
With members in 60 countries around the world, the Photographic Society of America is the largest photographer association of its kind. This association brings together both professional and amateur photography enthusiasts. As a nonprofit, the Photographic Society of America focuses on promoting and enhancing the art of photography.
5. North American Nature Photography Association
Founded in 1994, the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) focuses on the art and science of nature photography. They view nature photography as an avenue for communication, nature appreciation, and environmental appreciation. NANPA encourages the education of environmental protection.
6. Professional Photographers of America
As the world’s largest nonprofit association for photographers, the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) helps members with their businesses and encourages learning to broaden their creativity. The PPA has over 30,000 members in 50 countries. Their mission is to provide education, resources, and industry standards.
7. Royal Photographic Society
The Royal Photographic Society was founded in 1853 with the intention of promoting the art and science of photography. Membership is open to photographers worldwide, both professional and amateur.
8. Society for Photographic Education
The Society for Photographic Education provides forums for knowledge seeking photographers. It is a nonprofit membership program with a focus on the discussion of photography and media as a means of creativity and cultural insight. This photographer association helps photographers gain a broader understanding of photography in its every form.
9. Women in Photography International
This photography association was founded in 1981 and encourages women in photography. This association is the largest community of women photographers, allowing them to showcase their work and find inspiration.
10. American Society of Picture Professionals
Since 1966, the American Society of Picture Professionals (ASPP) has created a community of experience, creativity, and education for photography professionals. ASPP provides a forum where photographers can share, edit, and create photos. Along with creativity, those in ASPP can share their knowledge about the ethics and standards of photography.
